Run Rocklin Raising the Bar This Year - Will Increase Donations for Community Nonprofits

This is not a typical run for fun. Run Rocklin has historically had a definite purpose: raising money that can really have a wonderful benefit for a community.

Thousands of runners and walkers will once again be participating in the morning trek through the city streets at the 13th annual Run Rocklin, held Sunday morning, April 10 at Johnson-Springview Park.

The Matt Redding Memorial Foundation presents Run Rocklin, a charity event that last year drew 2,825 participants. This will be the 10th year that Run Rocklin has benefited the Matt Redding Foundation and also several law enforcement-related organizations. Run Rocklin raised $31,000 in 2015.

The Matt Redding Foundation supports education in Protective Services and provides financial support each year to graduating seniors at five local high schools, plus scholarships to Sierra College and William Jessup University.

Western Dental Continues as State Leader; Accepting Denti-Cal Patients at All Locations

Western Dental Continues as State Leader; Accepting Denti-Cal Patients at All Locations

Tooth decay is the most common chronic illness among California children and is five times more widespread than asthma, according to the “2016 California Children’s Report Card” issued by the advocacy group Children Now.

The report states that 55 percent of California’s low-income children are enrolled in the state’s Denti-Cal program, a Medi-Cal affiliate, but fewer than half received dental care in 2015. Denti-Cal is a public insurance program that provides services for low-income individuals and families who meet eligibility requirements.

Western Dental, the leading provider of Denti-Cal services in California, is working to change those statistics. Western Dental keeps its doors open to new and returning Denti-Cal patients at all 160 of its California offices. Western Dental providers served Denti-Cal patients in approximately 1 million visits in 2015.

Suspect remains at large in Roseville stabbing, robbery

Roseville Police are asking for the public’s assistance in finding one of six suspects connected with a January robbery and a stabbing.

Five suspects connected with the separate crimes have already been arrested, but Alex Conwell, 21, remains at large, police said.

Police believe Conwell, along with at least three other suspects, broke into a home in the Highland Reserve neighborhood through a window in the home on January 8 and robbed the home while holding the people inside at gunpoint.

During the investigation police found evidence linking Conwell to a January 9 robbery, during which a man went to a Galleria Boulevard parking lot, got in a car with several men, attempting to sell them marijuana, according to police.

During the deal, one of the buyers pointed a shotgun at the seller. Police report a struggle ensued, resulting in the seller being stabbed multiple times.
