Roads reopen after fatal car accident in Roseville


Roads have reopened in Roseville Friday morning following a fatal single vehicle wreck that occurred Thursday night.

The intersection of Douglas Boulevard and East Roseville Parkway reopened at about 4:45 a.m., following the investigation of the fatality, Roseville Police report.

At 11:18 p.m. Thursday, officers and rescue crews responded to a report of a vehicle that crashed into a pole.

The driver, a man in his 30s, was declared dead at the scene, police said.

Officers determined that he was driving his Toyota Prius west on Douglas Boulevard at East Roseville Parkway when for unknown reasons he swerved suddenly and collided with a light pole, according to police. He did not have any passengers, and no other vehicles were involved.

Police report there were no obvious signs of alcohol or other drug use; however, the driver was not wearing his seat belt.

American Heart Association Seeks Heart-Healthy Woman For Go Red Total Makeover

44 million women in the U.S. are affected by heart disease and stroke and each of them have a story to tell. Join ABC10’s Dina Kupfer at The American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women® movement as she emcees the Go Red Total Makeover on Saturday, February 6 at Arden Fair from 10am to 2pm. The event will spotlight one local heart-healthy woman who is in the process of making herself over from the inside out.

Nominees should be a female resident within the community or surrounding area and have taken action to improve her heart health.  The heart-healthy makeover recipient will receive a $500 Macy’s gift card at the Go Red Total Makeover event, and additionally, will participate in local media and in-studio interviews.

William Jessup Warrior Golf Classic April 15 at Catta Verdera Country Club

The Jessup Athletic Association will host the 18th annual Warrior Golf Classic on Friday, April 15 at Catta Verdera Country Club in Lincoln.

The Warrior Golf Classic is open to the public for both sponsorship and participation. All proceeds raised at the golf tournament will go directly to support William Jessup University athletic programs.

The tournament entry fee is $199 per person prior to Feb. 15, and $225 after that date. The entry fee is $199 for Jessup Athletic Association members. The cost includes green fees, lunch, dinner, awards presentation, cart, and range balls.

The tournament also includes an option for up to 10 teams to participate in a four-person shamble format. In a shamble, all four players tee off and select one shot, then play their own ball the remainder of the hole. The best individual score per hole is recorded for the team total. The shamble foursomes cannot exceed a total combined USGA handicap of 36.

18th Annual “Sacramento Museum Day” on February 6

With 26 museums and local destinations participating, the 2016 Sacramento Museum Day is proudly presented by Bank of America, Sacramento Covered and Amtrak®.  To the delight of the greater Sacramento area community, the participating local museums will offer free or half-priced admission from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2016, during the 18th annual event.  Most of the more than 25 museums will offer free admission whereas two destinations located in residential areas -- the Sacramento Zoo and Fairytale Town -- will offer half-priced admission to offset parking and traffic control costs.
