Roseville Galleria evacuated due to 'flash mob' crowd

ROSEVILLE, CA - The Roseville Galleria mall was evacuated for precautionary reasons Monday night after about 5,000 people showed up for a "flash mob" inside the mall, according to a fire official.

The incident happened around 7:15 p.m. inside the mall when the huge crowd gathered to perform a spontaneous musical performance, said Roseville Fire Inspector Tom Dodaro. He said there were reports of the floor creaking near the food court due to the oversized gathering.

The entire building was evacuated as fire and police officials worked to determine if the structure was safe.

The group, organized by the Sacramento Choral Society and Orchestra, said they were going to perform Handel's Hallejuah Chorus as a "random act of musical kindness" this holiday season.

Final weekend to contribute to 'Toys for the Troops'

SACRAMENTO -- This weekend is the final opportunity to contribute to the "Toys for the Troops' Kids" program at Denio's Roseville Farmers Market & Swap Meet.

For the third consecutive year, Denio's is lending support to the "Toys for the Troops' Kids" program, which provides toys for children of U.S. military personnel who are deployed overseas and the families of soldiers killed in action since September 2001. The booth will be open all day Saturday and Sunday.

Radio personality Big Jim Hall of K-Hits will be conducting a live remote on Saturday, encouraging people to join in donating new, unwrapped gifts for the children of military personnel. Santa Claus along with Sacramento's famed "Top Balloon Twisters Barry and Bob," will also be special guests. Children can receive a fun balloon and have a picture taken with Santa.

Alicia-On-Wheels 2.0

No matter how much of a city-lover you are, there are some downsides to the urban life. Our fellow 3folder, Alicia experienced this first-hand this week, waking up one morning to discover her beloved cruiser bike gone.

3fold loves Sacramento. We are avid supporters of our Midtown neighborhood and big fans of bike commuting. We are also big ol’ softies when it comes to helping out our own…and apparently our friends and colleagues (around town and in our various social media networks) are even more awesome.

Thank you to everyone who pitched in on our “Alicia-On-Wheels 2.0” bike replacement fundraising drive! It means a lot. You’re all amazing and we’re blessed to know you.
