Roseville resident arrested for insurance fraud

Roseville resident Anthony Molina, 24, was in Placer County Superior Court yesterday on four felony counts of insurance fraud, including one count of filing a false police report. Molina faces a possible 5 years in state prison and fines of up to $200,000.

"Insurance fraud is a serious crime and it will be fully investigated by my Department," said Commissioner Dave Jones. "Individuals who deliberately destroy their own property to alleviate a financial obligation and then file a false report and insurance claim will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."

On July 26, 2010, Molina drove his 2008 Toyota Camry to the area of Blue Canyon Road just north of Interstate 80 in Placer County. Molina's girlfriend followed in her vehicle.

Christopher Allen Braun, a former Florida resident who is described as a “con artist” by Placer County prosecutor Charlotte Baillie, has been sent to state prison for a series of crimes, including one in which he had two female victims stalked while he was sitting in a jail cell.

The crimes came to light on Jan. 12 when Braun pled no contest to felony charges of stalking and identity theft before Placer County Superior Court Judge Frances Kearney, who then sentenced him to two years and eight months in a state prison.
