"Rise of the Guardians" Movie & "Rocklin Has Talent" Finals this Friday

The City of Rocklin Parks and Recreation's Friday Evening in the Park FREE Movie series concludes it's summer run this Friday, August 16, with "Rise of the Guardians".  The finals of "Rocklin Has Talent" will take place before the movie, starting at 7:00 p.m.  Come on out and see some amazing talent, as 15 finalists compete in three age groups.  The finals will also feature entertainer Kenn Serrano, a former Sacramento Has Talent finalist as our Master of Ceremonies.  We hope to see you there!

Museum closure: Friday, August 9. The Maidu Museum & Historic Site will be closed for staff training. We will re-open Saturday, August 10 at 9am.

6th Annual Heritage Trail Museums Tour: August 10-11, 10am-4pm. We are one of 19 museums participating in the Heritage Trail Museums Tour from Roseville to Tahoe City. The museum is offering FREE admission, FREE guided tours at 10am and 1pm, and FREE children’s activities all day. www.theheritagetrail.blogspot.com

Campfire: Friday, August 16 from 7:30pm-8:30pm. Sit under the stars at our outdoor amphitheater to enjoy native stories around the campfire. We’ll provide roasting sticks and marshmallows for a sweet program’s end. Museum doors open at 7pm.

Jazz Musician and Steinway Pianos Artist Jim Martinez Joins Faculty at William Jessup University

William Jessup University announced today it has hired pianist Jim Martinez as the accompanist for the Music Department. He will play an integral role for the University Choir and Orchestra that performs more than 30 times per year.

Martinez will practice, perform and work with the more than 100 students in the Music Department.

“I want to share everything I’ve learned from my career and teach students,” said Martinez, who has studied classical music for 18 years and has an extensive jazz background. “I take the approach that every student is different.

“Car Cruise” Presented by the California Automobile Museum -- August 3  
Get your engines ready...the California Automobile Museum’s much anticipated “Car Cruise” is an annual event designed for vintage car owners to show off their hot rides. The eye-catching “Car Cruise” begins at Sacramento State and ends at Fulton and El Camino with a huge -- and FREE -- vintage car show beginning at 5 p.m.
