ROCKLIN - Four Rocklin High School seniors signed NCAA National Letters of Intent Wednesday to play college soccer. Savannah Coiner, Seth Casiple, Melanie Bertrand and Megan Hanson made formal commitments to U.S. college soccer teams.

Coiner, a center back for the Thunder girls soccer team will play for Clemson University as a biochemistry major. She plans a career in forensic science. Coiner was a member of the Region Cal North State Team and named Sierra Foothill League MVP. "I’m excited to go to school in South Carolina," Coiner said. "I’m looking forward to playing in the ACC." Her parents are Charles and Heather Coiner.

Casiple, a midfielder for the Thunder boys team will play for UC Berkeley. He will enroll as a business economics major. Casiple earned All-city honors, was named Offensive MVP and First team All League for the Sierra Foothill League. "I’m excited to attend a prestigious school like Cal and to play for a great soccer program," Casiple said. His parents are Robert and Sheri Casiple of Rocklin.

Bertrand, a goalkeeper for the Thunder girls soccer team will play for University of Nevada Reno. She is eager to don the navy and silver colors of the Wolf Pack. Bertrand will enroll as a Business major and plans a career in public relations. She was named first team All League for the Sierra Foothill League. "It’s exciting to have the opportunity to move on to the next level of soccer," Bertrand said. "I’m ready for the challenge." Bertrand’s parents are Anthony and Kathy Bertrand.

Hanson, a left defender and center for the Thunder girls soccer team will play for Dominican University next fall. Hanson will be a nursing major and plans a career as an oncology nurse. Hanson was also named First Team All League for the Sierra Foothill League and named Defensive Player of the Year. "I feel like Dominican is perfect for me as a student and a soccer player," Hanson said. "I can’t wait to attend." Hanson is the daughter of Eric and Kay Hanson.
