Granite Bay Olympic swimmer wins Silver in the 10k today

When Olympic athlete Haley Anderson took to the open water for a 10K Swim in London’s Hyde Park this morning, family and friends watched it live and cheered her on.

Haley is from Granite Bay and was the only American swimming in this race.

A three-time Pac-10 champion, Haley Anderson holds USC records in the 1000y and 1650y free and the 800y free relay as well as a USC pool record in the 500y free. She attends University of Southern California. Her sister Alyssa also swims for the U.S Olympic team and won gold earlier in the 4x200-meter freestyle relay.

"Seeing her get a medal, it was like, "Oh, now I have to do it,' " said Haley, "You know that sister rivalry."

Alyssa rooted from the grandstand. The sisters hugged after the medal ceremony.

"It was the best feeling ever," Haley said.
