Rocklin homicide victim identified

ROCKLIN - Rocklin police are investigating the city's first homicide since 2007.

Officers responded to a 911 call Saturday night reporting a stabbing victim on the 6200 block of Swan Court.

Officers found a 51-year-old man inside of a house bleeding from the chest, said police Capt. Lon Milka.

The victim was transported to Sutter Roseville Medical Center where he died a short time later, Milka said.

Police released the victim's name Monday. He was Robert Earl Vickney, Jr. and he lived at the home where he was found.

Milka said detectives at the crime scene determined that an argument took place during a party at the home between the victim and a 20-year-old man.

The argument escalated into a physical fight in which Vickney Jr. was stabbed in the chest with a knife, according to Milka.

Zachary Raymond Kachmar, 20, of Rocklin was arrested for murder as a result of their investigation and booked into Placer County Jail, Milka said.
